Small sewage treatment plants

Small wastewater treatment plants are systems for the wastewater treatment of domestic wastewater from individual or several buildings with a wastewater inflow of up to 8 m³/day. This volume corresponds to the daily wastewater of around 50 residents.

In accordance with the Lower Saxony Water Act (NWG), the municipality can stipulate for certain parts of the municipal area that the authorized users of the properties must dispose of domestic wastewater in small wastewater treatment plants. This does not apply to the disposal of sludge produced in small sewage treatment plants.
