Alliance "Living with children"
For this reason, an alliance "Living with Children" was set up in Salzgitter, in which around 25 organizations and institutions have taken up the work: Daycare centers, welfare associations, trade unions and industry, social organizations, political parties and many others. The city of Salzgitter also supports the initiative. They are all pooling their expertise to jointly develop measures to make life with children in Salzgitter easier.
Things are happening in our city
Companies in Salzgitter have also recognized the potential of family-friendly measures and have implemented them as a matter of course in their day-to-day operations:
- Salzgitter Flachstahl designs various part-time models and offers the option of working from home during parental leave.
- At Volkswagen AG, employees can take time off for family work for up to eight years with a promise of re-employment.
- Robert Bosch AG uses external support concepts and offers individual assistance.
And what about SMEs?
- Schaper & Brümmer implements parent-friendly part-time models, enables its employees to work from home and allows them to go home in stressful family situations.
- Möhlenhoff Wärmetechnik documents family friendliness with a notice board with photos of children and a maternity allowance.
- Schiller Zahntechnik relies on flexible working hours, offers further training during parental leave and the opportunity to work for the company as a temporary employee.
- At Elektro Lindhofer, an employee on parental leave can work on Saturdays at her own request if her partner is there to look after the child.
