The interactive circus “Circus Fun” delights children and audiences alike

Once again this year, the grounds of the Graffiti Children’s and Youth Center in Stadtpark were transformed into a colorful circus world full of excitement, creativity, and children’s beaming eyes.

In collaboration with the interactive circus “Circus Fun,” the City of Salzgitter’s Department of Children and Youth Services once again organized an action-packed summer camp week from July 20 to 24 for about 100 children from across the city.

For five days, the children were able to immerse themselves in the fascinating world of the circus under professional guidance. Depending on their interests and talents, they chose their own circus disciplines and developed their personal performances with great joy, perseverance, and team spirit.

In addition to daily training, the program included games, physical activities, creative workshops, and group breaks. This experience not only resulted in impressive circus acts but also fostered new friendships, mutual support, and many unforgettable moments.

The circus week focused on building self-confidence and fostering creativity, a sense of responsibility, and social interaction. The children discovered that they can surpass their own limits when they work together toward a common goal. With each rehearsal, their confidence grew, as did their excitement for the big performance.

The highlight was the grand gala performance on Friday afternoon in the packed circus tent in Stadtpark, next to the Graffiti Children’s and Youth Center. In front of parents, siblings, relatives, friends, and numerous guests, the young performers proudly presented their acts.

The audience rewarded the performers—both young and old—with prolonged applause and great enthusiasm.

Circus Week once again impressively demonstrated the important contribution that vacation programs offered by open children’s and youth services make: They create spaces for interaction, community, and personal development, and enable children—regardless of their background or financial circumstances—to have special vacation experiences.

The City of Salzgitter’s Department of Children and Youth Services extends its heartfelt thanks to the team at the participatory circus “Circus Fun,” all supporters, and the dedicated staff and volunteers who helped make this special vacation week a success.

With many wonderful memories, beaming faces, and loud applause, a varied week came to an end—one that the children will surely remember for a long time to come.
