Salzgitter

Wrong time for joyful celebrations

November is the month of reflection and remembrance; the legislator has therefore restricted joyful celebrations and loud music - at least as far as they take place in public - for the "quiet holidays".

In Lower Saxony, restrictions apply in November for the Volkstrauertag, the Buß- und Bettag and the Totensonntag.

On Remembrance Day and Remembrance Sunday, events in restaurants, cafés, bars and pubs that go beyond the provision of food and drink (e.g. musical performances, prize skating) are prohibited from 5 a.m. onwards. In addition, entertainment music must be avoided in catering establishments. Amusement arcades may not be open. Furthermore, no events associated with parades, light music or other festivities are permitted.

The same restrictions apply on the Day of Prayer and Repentance, but only between 7 and 11 am.
