Description
The electronic identity verification feature is the online identification function of your national ID card, your electronic residence permit, or your eID card for EU citizens. It allows you to securely verify your identity when conducting digital transactions with government agencies or using online services.
If your place of residence changes, you must also update the address stored on the chip in your identification document.
Identity card with online identification function and the eID card:
- Online:
If your new municipality offers electronic registration of residence, you can also complete the address change online as part of this registration process.
In that case, you do not need to visit the office in person.
An address sticker with your new address for your ID card or eID card will be mailed to you.
- In person:
If you’d like to update your registration in person or if online registration isn’t available at your new place of residence, please contact the Citizens’ Office.
There, your address is usually updated directly onto the chip in your identification document when you register your residence.
Electronic Residence Permit (eAT):
- In person only:
The address on your electronic residence permit (eAT) can only be changed in person at the relevant immigration office.
It is not possible to change the address on the eAT online.
Please bring your registration confirmation to your appointment—it serves as proof of your new address.
