Description
Description
Events that involve the use of public roads to a greater extent than is customary for traffic require a permit. In particular, these include
- motorsports events involving motor vehicles, classic cars, or motorcycles
- bicycle races, group bike rides, triathlon events, public hikes, and public runs
- convoys
- parades
- street festivals, traditional events, and markets
Racing with motor vehicles on public roads is prohibited.
Requirements
A permit or exemption may only be granted for events that are organized and carried out responsibly by an event organizer. The organizer must guarantee that the event will be conducted in accordance with the conditions and requirements set by the permitting authority. A permit or exemption is granted upon submission of a written application. The Department of Motor Vehicles reviews the application and the submitted documents and consults with the relevant agencies (police, road maintenance authorities, forestry and nature conservation agencies).
The permit or exemption may be subject to conditions and requirements, as well as orders regarding traffic control and traffic restriction measures. These measures are coordinated with the organizer in advance.
Exceptions to prohibitions or restrictions are possible in specific individual cases or generally for certain applicants. An exception may only be granted in particularly urgent cases. The special permit must not compromise traffic safety. If necessary, this is ensured through appropriate conditions and requirements.
