Where and how can I find a place for my child in daycare or kindergarten?
Are you looking for a childcare place for your child? In Salzgitter, your child can be looked after in a day care center (crèche/kindergarten) or in a day care center.
Child day care is an individual, family-oriented and flexible form of care in small groups.
To apply for a childcare place in a daycare center, please register in the parent portal (opens in a new tab).

How does the acclimatization process work?
Before the regular childcare hours begin, your child will be slowly introduced to the required amount of childcare hours, first in your presence and then without you. This can take two to three weeks. This allows your child to get to know the childminder and you also have the opportunity to get to know the childminder better and build up trust in them. This is important so that you can give your child to the childminder with a good feeling. With you as a "safe haven", the child can adjust to the new environment and new caregiver with less stress. The childminder also benefits from a good settling-in period, as they can learn a lot about your child from you during the initial settling-in period.
- Every daycare center has individual settling-in concepts.
- In general, a settling-in period lasts around four weeks. During this time, the separation of the child from the parents is continuously extended.
What is an integration group?
The basic idea of integrative daycare in the form of integrative groups (crèche/kindergarten/after-school care) is the joint care and education of children with and without disabilities. In addition to this, inclusive groups are characterized by a smaller group size in order to do justice to all children in their development and to consider their individual needs.
The prerequisite for an integration place is an acknowledgement of costs for your child issued by the Integration Assistance Department of the Specialist Service for Social Affairs and Senior Citizens to cover the costs of joint care for children with and without disabilities (integration).
You can find integration groups for the crèche and kindergarten in the parents' portal (opens in a new tab) by filtering for integrative places.
Does an integration place cost me anything?
No, an integration place is no more expensive for you than a regular place, so you will not incur any extra costs.
I have an acknowledgement of costs for an integration place - what do I do now?
In order for your child to be accepted into an integration group, please contact the specialist and coordination office for integrative education (contact details are listed below) to be placed on the waiting list. We will then look for a suitable integration place for your child close to home.

Why are the U examinations important for my child?

Siblings
Allow your children to have their own experiences. Having your own friends is important; you can find them in different kindergarten groups or leisure activities, for example. This often requires more organization on your part and different contact persons. Trust your child to find their own way around. If possible, make time for each child individually on a regular basis and give them your full attention. This will strengthen your relationship with each other. Try to remain calm in disputes and do not take sides. Disputes are important for development. Instead, try to help your children find a solution that is good for them. You are welcome to contact us if you have any questions.
Where can I find events for families?
You can find all events in our events calendar or as notices in the contact points for families.
