Warnings and emergencies

In the event of extraordinary events, extreme weather conditions in the area and in the event of a disaster, it may also be impossible for fire departments, aid organizations and energy suppliers to supply all affected areas and people at short notice and/or to repair all supply facilities immediately.

However, you can do a lot to ensure that you are prepared for longer-term supply bottlenecks, such as a power outage, by taking your own precautionary measures.

The brochure "Für den Notfall vorgesorgt" (prepared for emergencies), which is available free of charge at the municipal BürgerCenters, the Auto-Service-Park and the fire stations of the professional fire department, provides relevant information. The brochure can also be downloaded from the Federal Office of Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance (link at the bottom of this page).

For example, you should have the following things ready at home:

• Candles,
• flashlights,
• an off-grid, battery-operated radio,
• an off-grid cooking and heating facility,
• a supply of drinking water and the most important foodstuffs and
• a supply of important medicines that you will need.

First aid courses can also prepare you for extraordinary situations and serve to protect yourself and your family. You can attend these courses at the aid organizations in our city.
