The local fire brigades with their local fire chiefs are under the leadership of the city fire chief, who is supported by the city command as a management body. In order to be able to optimally manage the emergency services, 3 fire-fighting districts were formed, to which the local fire departments are assigned. These fire-fighting districts are led by the deputy city fire chiefs. By law, the head of the professional fire department performs the duties of the district fire chief in towns with a professional fire department.
