Salzgitter

Festive anniversary week

From June 10 to 15, 2023, the municipal music school celebrated its 65th anniversary.

Hanover Brass

To celebrate this special event, a colorful musical program was put together during an anniversary week.

On Saturday, 10.06.2023, Hannover Brass opened the multi-day event together with lecturers from the music school at 17:00.

At the Hannover Brass concert, the audience was presented with virtuoso brass music from four centuries in a varied and sonorous program.

Since 2000, Hannover's Expo year, the "Hannover Brass" ensemble has dedicated itself to arranging and interpreting a wide variety of music from all eras. The trademark: Cultivated brass music with power and feeling and a rich symphonic sound. The wide-ranging instrumentation (4 trumpets, 2 horns, 4 trombones/euphonium, tuba) enables colorful instrumentations and thus also sophisticated arrangements of music that was not originally composed for brass instruments.

The festive concert took place in the Kulturscheune. Admission was free.

Brass instruments could be tried out afterwards.

Soloists from the Hanover University of Music HMTMH perform at Salder Castle.

Everyone was invited to a matinee at Salder Castle on Sunday, June 11 at 11 a.m. to listen to children and young people from the gifted class at the Hanover University of Music.

Prof. Martin Brauß gave a short lecture on the importance of promoting gifted children and the important task of music schools. Pupils from the Institute for Early Childhood Development (IFF) played.

The traditional music school days with their colorful concerts for all age groups, the cafeteria and taster sessions for instruments took placefrom Monday, June 12 to Thursday, June 15:

  • The children's and family concerts at 4 p.m. featured interesting stories with beautiful music. Children played for children.
  • "Instrument petting meadows": Here children or/and adults could try out instruments for themselves.
  • The 6 p.m. concerts were colorful and varied. Guests had the opportunity to listen to numerous solo and chamber music performances of all instruments.
  • The music get-together for adults took place on Wednesday, June 14: adults played music for adults. This was followed by culinary delights.
  • The morning concert of table harps on Thursday, June 15, at 11 a.m. was particularly recommended.

The "Gentle Voices" choir, under the direction of Britta Rex, together with the big band "Clean, Fine & Funky" from Hanover, under the direction of Achim Kück, gave the big final concert of the music school's anniversary week on June 15 at 7:30 pm.

The choir of the Salzgitter music school, "Gentle Voices", was founded in 2001 by singer and choir director Britta Rex and currently consists of 30 singers who rehearse every Thursday in the hall of the Alte Feuerwache. With their beautiful voices, lots of fun and stylistic openness, they celebrate the diversity of popular vocal music.

From gospel to rock-pop songs, African songs or Latin American literature, many genres are already represented in the repertoire - sometimes a cappella, sometimes with the sensitive piano accompaniment of Martin Krüger-Düsenberg.

Now the choir is devoting itself to JAZZ!

Together with the big band, the singers have brought sophisticated arrangements of jazz standards to the stage of the Kulturscheune. Each of the ensembles could also be heard on their own.

In August 2022, the choir had the honor of being named "Choir of the Week" by radio station Deutschlandfunk Kultur. In a radio feature with interviews and music from live recordings, the choir and its history were presented by the enthusiastic presenter. The program can be listened to in the Deutschlandfunk Kultur media library in the "Choir of the week" section.
