Learning workshop at Salder Castle Museum

The museum's learning workshop is located in the vaulted cellar of Salder Castle: a place for crafts, tinkering, experimenting and celebrating.

In excellently equipped workshop areas, visitors young and old can try their hand at practical work with unusual materials such as steel, leather, antler, stone or wood. Cutting, sawing, punching, grinding, sharpening, spinning, weaving and sewing with various materials can be tried out here. Sometimes computers are used with simulations or for research - but first and foremost it's all about manual work.

The learning workshop is also used for working groups or children's birthday parties. Project weeks, workshops and vacation courses are held here and, of course, the learning workshop is open on special museum events under the motto "Come in and join in".

In conjunction with a visit to the permanent exhibitions, kindergarten children between the ages of 4 and 6 have access to themed craft and painting materials in the learning workshop. For about an hour, children can work on the themes of Children's World, Dinosaurs, Ice Age Animals, Mill and Bakehouse, Art Mice Studio, Knight and Damsel.

As an extracurricular place of learning, the museum offers themed information and guided tours of all permanent exhibitions for school classes of all ages. Depending on the class level, demonstrations and experiments take place in the learning workshop. In addition, two-hour courses are offered on working with specific materials from stone to steel. Please take a look at our current flyer for these offers (see below).

Children aged 5 to 12 can celebrate their birthday with friends. A two-hour themed hands-on activity takes place in the learning workshop.
