The event is organized by the City of Salzgitter's Department of Culture. The jury is made up of Jens Bogdan, Harald Baumgartner and Alina Ludwig from the specialist service as well as "The Voice of Germany" semi-finalist Meike Hammerschmidt.
Who can take part in the Salzig Bandcontest?
Interested bands or artists can apply now until April 30, 2025 to take part in the band contest. The application form and further information can be found at the bottom of this page.
In addition to Salzgitter residents, musicians from neighboring communities such as Braunschweig, Wolfenbüttel, Peine, Goslar and Hildesheim can also take part in the "Salzig Band Contest".
All styles of music are welcome - the only condition: The lyrics must be youth-free and must not glorify violence. Bands that have previously taken part in the contest or even won are also allowed to compete again.
How are the winners determined?
The audience and a jury will select the best band in the region from the five finalists.
What can you win?
The winning band or solo winner may record for five days in the recording studio of the city of Salzgitter (value: 1,500 euros). The second and third place winners will receive vouchers for instruments and accessories worth 350 euros and 150 euros respectively.
If the average age of the winning band and the solo winner is under 30, they will qualify for the semi-finals of the so-called "Local Heroes Competition" of the LAG Rock in Hanover. All participants in this competition will receive professional band coaching with singer and music school teacher Alina Ludwig as a special prize.
If the average age of the winning band or solo winner is over 30, the best-placed band or solo artist who meets this requirement will qualify.
