In summer 2023, the Lower Saxony state legislature created new regulations
for the approval of temporary changes of use of rooms to assembly rooms (keyword: barn parties). These bring
considerable simplifications for event organizers.

In most cases, the new approval procedure in accordance with Section 63 (2) NBauO no longer requires a building permit for the application. This means that the event organizer can submit the application themselves. In addition, the scope of the approval procedure has been significantly reduced compared to the original regulation. This focuses on the topic of hazard prevention and is therefore limited to the examination of fire protection in the majority of cases.
