Documentation Socially Integrative City: Fredenberg

The final documentation on the refurbishment project can be viewed here.

Residential building in Kurt-Schumacher-Ring.

The overall urban development measure "Socially Integrative City/Fredenberg" was implemented very successfully with a large number of projects and individual measures in the redevelopment area after the program was launched in 2001.

In 2014, Planungsgruppe Stadtbüro was commissioned to prepare the documentation for the Urban Redevelopment and Socially Integrative City department and the City of Salzgitter. From the beginning of the measure, the Planungsgruppe Stadtbüro from Dortmund took over the neighborhood management and fulfilled the tasks in the district until the end.

During the 15 years of redevelopment, around EUR 7 million in urban development funds from the federal and state governments, including the City of Salzgitter's own contribution, as well as funds from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) were invested in Fredenberg. The funding has triggered a multiple of private investment (estimated at 7 to 8 times). In addition, around EUR 3 million in non-investment (social) funding, largely from the European Social Fund (ESF), has flowed directly into the district via the "Socially Integrative City" area.

The documentation is a work that not only deals with the structural and social projects that were created in the course of the redevelopment, but also shows in the "Monitoring" section the extraordinary success of the measure through a significant improvement in the social and structural data in Fredenberg and proves the successful continuation of the measure.
