As a general rule, entitlement to transportation or reimbursement of expenses applies only to the group of persons specified in § 114(1), sentence 2, of the NSchG, provided that the distance to the nearest school corresponding to the type of school chosen by the student exceeds the minimum distance specified in the Student Transportation Regulations.

Applications for this must be submitted to the Department of Education.

In order to process your application for student transportation in a timely manner, we need the following documents from you:

• A confidentiality waiver signed by the legal guardian
• A preparatory form completed by the legal guardian, which was sent to you in advance
• A copy of the most recent report card
• A copy of the notice from the state school authority if there are special educational needs
• Current medical reports from specialists regarding your child’s current health status that are relevant to the transportation application (e.g., from the treating orthopedist, surgeon, pulmonologist, psychologist, child psychiatrist, etc., if available)
