Disposal of old electrical appliances

The Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG) regulates the disposal and recycling of electrical and electronic equipment. Since 2006, waste electrical and electronic equipment must be recycled.

Definition and labeling of electrical appliances

"Electrical and electronic equipment within the meaning of the law are
1. devices which require electric currents or electromagnetic fields for their proper operation
2. devices for the generation, transmission and measurement of such currents and fields,..."

Old electrical appliances must be disposed of separately

Since the ElektroG came into force, every owner of old electrical appliances is obliged to dispose of them separately. Old electrical appliances may not be disposed of in the residual waste garbage can.

Diebesstieg waste disposal facility
The SRB has set up a collection point for old electrical appliances from households at the Diebesstieg waste disposal facility. The appliances are accepted free of charge.
