After the successful premiere two years ago, the city of Salzgitter is taking part in this initiative for the second time and, together with nine partners, is offering a varied program of information and events.
The square in front of the town hall in Salzgitter-Lebenstedt will be transformed into a special venue between 12 noon and 6 pm. A wide variety of electric vehicles (Segways, bicycles, cars, commercial vehicles and buses) will be on display for visitors to see and touch. Contact persons will also be on hand to answer questions about these electrically powered means of transportation.
If you would like to try out "almost silent driving" for yourself, there will be various opportunities to do so, for example with an expert at the wheel of an electric vehicle or as a passenger on the electric bus around the town hall. A special stop will be set up for this purpose on this day.
Those who prefer to get around on two wheels can test their skills on a Segway course on the town hall forecourt or try out riding various electric bikes.
There will be tips on how to handle the bikes correctly and how to ride them properly. There will also be suggestions for tours around the city.
To ensure that mobility is possible for everyone, the advisory board for people with disabilities will be presenting appropriate options for the first time.
Another new feature this year: Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences and the KVG are offering a joint program for students in the upper grades of Salzgitter's grammar schools and the IGS. Ostfalia invites students to lectures and discussions in addition to the lessons in the schools. Afterwards, the KVG will offer pupils a free transport service to the town hall square in its new electric bus to enable them to take part in the activities.
Those who would like to enjoy some culinary refreshments in between will also find something to do.
