The text of the resolution adopted by the city council:

The Lord Mayor and the council factions of all parties represented on the Salzgitter City Council are pleased about the initiative of large sections of the city's society to hold a festival of democracy at the Stadtmonument on October 6, 2018.

Salzgitter is no place for agitation and violence. Democratic coexistence in our city excludes violence and extremist activities. There is no room or place for inhumane propaganda in our city.

Non-violent encounters and coexistence between people of different world views, religions and lifestyles is essential for the basic values of our constitution. Non-violence and mutual respect characterize and strengthen our urban society.

The Festival of Democracy is a non-violent event for all generations of people living in our city. Human dignity is inviolable. Especially in our city of Salzgitter.

The Salzgitter City Council wishes the Festival of Democracy on October 6, 2018, a successful event and happy encounters for the population!
