As part of the series "Achtung modern - Architektur zwischen 1960 und 1980" by the Arbeitsgemeinschaft (AG) Denkmalpflege der Braunschweigischen Landschaft, on Tuesday, November 13, at 5.30 pm, Salzgitter's city planning officer Michael Tacke and Dr. Norbert Funke from the AG Denkmalpflege will guide interested parties through the administration building and provide information about its special structural details.
The historical context of the building, which was planned and constructed in 1963 by the architects Witte-Brettschneider-Laessig-Kärst, will also be the subject of the tour.
After the National Socialist era, the purpose of building a town hall was not only to provide space for the council and administration, but also to embody the new democratic community.
With its modern design, the town hall in Salzgitter-Lebenstedt created such a place of civic and democratic identification.
Dr. Jörg Leuschner, Chairman of the Salzgitter History Association, will also give a lecture on "The development of the community of the young city of Salzgitter using the example of the hospital landscape from 1940/41 to 1957".
Registration is not required! The tour starts in the atrium of the Salzgitter town hall, Joachim-Campe-Straße 6-8, in Salzgitter-Lebenstedt. For further information on the guided tour and the "Achtung modern" series, please call 05353 / 912202.
