Salzgitter

20 new youth leaders

20 participants have successfully completed their youth leader training. They can now work independently with young people, accompany vacation camps and plan and implement activities for children.

Dieter Holters and Heike Faber were responsible for training the prospective youth leaders between the ages of 15 and 62 as social education workers from the municipal child and youth development department of the city of Salzgitter.

14 female and six male graduates now belong to the group of committed people in Salzgitter who spend their free time volunteering in youth work. Some of them are already active in youth work and, following their training, now also meet the new legal requirements in terms of duty of supervision, child endangerment and youth protection.

Accordingly, the 50-hour training course covered a wide range of topics. Youth leader training provides a wide range of background knowledge about youth work. The graduates received a lot of tips and training for their own practical work. Strengthening the social skills of each individual volunteer was just as important as issues relating to dealing with and protecting children and young people.

At the end of the fifth training block on November 17 and 18 at the Thiede children's and youth club (KJT), the 20 participants qualified to accompany vacation camps, work in the children's and youth clubs and be active in clubs, youth groups and youth associations. They have acquired the necessary specialist knowledge to plan and organize activities for children and young people on their own responsibility. This qualification was confirmed to the graduates with a certificate of attendance, with which they can apply for the "Juleica Card".

The next youth leader training course starts on March 2, 2019.
