Climbing, playing and jumping are just as much a part of the program as batik, handicrafts and drawing. The 100 children have plenty of opportunities to play for a whole week. Under the direction of Carolin Bodenburg, Michaela Grabowski and André Greco, 15 supervisors ensure that everything runs smoothly.
Many children are outside in the glorious summer weather: the bouncy castle is just as popular as the table tennis table, which is fortunately in the shade. A few meters further on, a football is being played, while some girls and boys are devoutly stirring in buckets of blue water. T-shirts that were once white are floating in it. "We tied them off in some places with string beforehand," explains Lara. These areas then remain white, as the first results on the washing line show. The children enjoy batik as much as being together with the other girls and boys. Playing together, having lunch and trying out new things together is the focus for a whole week. Seven-year-old Leander captures all of this in text and photos.
As a "roving reporter", he is on the road for the "FETSZ newspaper", which all the children take home with them at the end of the week. He also captures the enthusiasm of seven-year-old Ali, who skillfully stacks the boxes and climbs up them. Well secured by André Greco, the height is a particular pleasure, even if the twelve crates do wobble and fall apart shortly afterwards. Floating in the air is a great way to end the day at this lofty height. Then it's the other children's turn.
