At the opening, city planning officer Michael Tacke was delighted with the great interest in the playground and the urban development program, which has already enabled many measures to be implemented. Urban development funding is a joint federal, state and local government project that has been in place in the east and west estates since 2004 and focuses on the structural renewal of the redevelopment area.

This urban development programme is a success story for the eastern and western estates and for Salzgitter: structural defects have been eliminated; houses have been modernized and repaired. In addition, streets, squares and paths were redesigned and disused buildings were demolished. Community facilities such as the neighborhood park at the Ziesbergschule or the "Haus der Begegnung und Bewegung" on Martin-Luther Platz are just as much a part of this as the NOW-Treff. Other visible construction successes over the past 14 years include the Roxy-Helco playground, Martin-Luther-Platz, the neighborhood management and the many renovated streets and houses.

During the tour, Susanne Goronzi, Head of the Urban Redevelopment and Socially Integrative City Department, together with Diana Graf, Neighborhood Manager from the city office, informed interested visitors about the redevelopment successes. The progress of construction work on the Haus der Begegnung und Bewegung was on the agenda, as were the modernizations in the neighbourhood and the newly designed Am Ziesberg neighbourhood park. The end of the event in the NOW district meeting place was also a great opportunity to talk about the well-functioning cooperation in the district.
