However, he is not completely unfamiliar with the city of Salzgitter. In 1988, he was a trainee in what was then the Office for Culture, History and Heritage of the City of Salzgitter.
Ten years later, his career path led him back to Salzgitter as Head of Events and Plant Manager of the Kulturscheune. "Even though 20 years have passed since then, many old acquaintances still work here in the specialist department," said Hartmut Schölch, referring to his professional career.
In addition to being responsible for around 50 employees, his new role involves the further development of Salzgitter's cultural offerings. The close involvement of citizens is particularly important here.
Hartmut Schölch emphasized: "Great work is being done in the cultural sector here in Salzgitter. Our Salder Castle Museum, the Kultursommer, the Klesmer Festival and "KniKi" are just a few examples of this."
Eric Neiseke, the city's head of cultural affairs, described Schölch as a "cultural character who will certainly make his mark in Salzgitter." Previously, Schölch was head of the cultural department in Waldshut-Tiengen in Baden-Württemberg for over 17 years and therefore has the perfect combination of management experience and cultural know-how.
Hartmut Schölch is also culturally active in his private life. As a singer-songwriter with a preference for the saxophone, he has been playing with the Lösekes Blues Gang in Hildesheim for four years. He has plenty of playable saxophones to choose from, as he has a private collection of around 100 of them.
Hartmut Schölch considers it important to analyze the current situation before starting his career in Salzgitter. To this end, he referred to the survey on the Kulturentwicklungsplan, which runs until mid-July and in which all citizens can participate on the Salzgitter city website. He also took the opportunity to promote an event that is close to his heart. The poetry slam with Dominik Bartels will take place from August 1 to 3.
