Following approval by the city council, the outdoor swimming facilities from the 1960s (non-swimmers' pool and diving pool with diving tower), including the associated technology, would be dismantled. The pools are unheated. The swimmers' pool was already dismantled in 2003 due to the risk of collapse and a beach volleyball court was built on the site.

According to the BSF, the existing outdoor pool facilities are now unattractive and technically outdated. The outdoor pool has not been in operation since the renovation work on the indoor pool began in mid-2016.

There are two more additions to the outdoor pool:

• Application for a year-round outdoor pool
• Proposal from the North Local Council to maintain the outdoor pool
