Salzgitter

Young people move straight in

The new Salzgitter Youth Parliament will begin its work on Tuesday, May 29, with its constituent meeting.

It consists of 13 Salzgitter residents aged between twelve and 20 (eleven members of parliament and two assessors = equal voting, speaking and election rights).

By the end of the application period, only the applications of these 13 young people had been received by the City of Salzgitter's Children, Youth and Family Department. The election for the youth parliament, which is scheduled for mid-March and will consist of 25 members of parliament and three assessors if there are enough applicants, was therefore not held.

The 13 applicants will be elected directly to the committee. This is provided for in the Youth Parliament's election and rules of procedure. There is a similar procedure for the city's local councils.

The constituent meeting of the 3rd Youth Parliament of the City of Salzgitter on May 29 begins at 5.30 p.m. in the council chamber in the town hall. The agenda includes the appointment of the new youth parliamentarians and the farewell to the youth parliamentarians of the second term.

The new members of the committee will be supported by their predecessors during the transition phase.
