Salzgitter

Bar arch bridge closed from Monday

The tied arch bridge will be fully closed from Monday, September 3. The renovation work on the structure, which was built in 1972, is so extensive and complex that the full closure is expected to last until mid-2019.

Through traffic should take a wide detour around the roadworks.

Traffic will be diverted over a wide area. Detour routes will be set up for both directions and will be signposted accordingly.

Vehicles coming from the north will be directed via the Thiede exit onto Eisenhüttenstraße (L 618) to Industriestraße Nord.

Vehicles coming from the south can reach the two industrial companies from the Watenstedt exit via Industriestraße Mitte and Eisenhüttenstraße.

Cyclists, who can continue to cross the bridge, and pedestrians are not affected by the full closure.

The city of Salzgitter has consulted with all affected companies and various authorities in advance. Residents were informed accordingly at the local council meetings. The civil engineering and traffic department is the point of contact.
