All trees and shrubs are currently suffering from the drought due to the lack of natural rainfall. The leaf fall and yellowing of the leaves that can already be observed is part of a natural process in which the trees and shrubs try to reduce their evaporation rate. Permanent damage is not to be feared.
Some of the municipal trees are already being watered by the SRB as far as possible. These include, in particular, trees planted last fall or spring, which have been regularly supplied with water for some time.
In Salzgitter-Bad, for example, around 100 trees along Windmühlenbergstraße and Hinter dem Salze are also watered by the Salzgitter Bad volunteer fire department. All municipal trees are under constant observation by the SRB's experts.
The SRB would appreciate the direct support of local residents. Residents would be very helpful if they could help trees standing in front of their property to survive the dry phase with as little damage as possible by watering them regularly. It is not possible for the city to water all trees as required.
