Salzgitter has one more leisure attraction: following the completion of the first construction phase of the modernization of the former indoor outdoor pool, the new Stadtbad building was opened in May after a construction phase of around two years.
The pool is a sight to behold. A modern ambience, lots of light and more water areas invite you to enjoy a refreshing visit. New features include the toddler area with three pools, slide and water play area, an attraction pool with four 25-meter lanes, climbing rings, swing grotto, massage jets and water bubblers. The multifunctional pool offers the optimum water depth for every course.
The pool with sports pool and slide is scheduled for completion in summer 2019. The changing rooms, showers, toilets and the area around the 25-metre pool will also be renovated by then.
Salzgittersee improves the quality of life, is right on the doorstep and the sports and leisure facilities are broad, colorful and diverse. The future of Salzgittersee was the subject of a public participation process that was presented on Monday, November 19, in the Kulturscheune in Salzgitter-Lebenstedt.
The city has thus launched an open-ended and broad-based discussion on the future of the lake. The collection of ideas as a basis for discussion for public participation divides the lake into five themed areas: play & sport, city & river, island park, beach & sun and water & wind. The aim is to develop a long-term concept for the future of Salzgittersee.
Joy, relief and great anticipation for the future at St. Elisabeth Hospital: the state of Lower Saxony is providing 24.5 million euros in funding for a new replacement building at the existing site in Salzgitter-Bad.
On Thursday, June 14, 2018, employees and the board of directors, Lord Mayor Frank Klingebiel and member of the state parliament Marcus Bosse officially received the long-awaited news of a positive funding decision. The total costs of the new building and the accompanying measures are planned at 36.5 million euros. St. Elisabeth Hospital Salzgitter is investing between 10 and 12 million euros of equity in the future.
On Sunday, September 23, Lord Mayor Frank Klingebiel hosted a very special event.
As part of a festive city reception, the program included honoring particularly deserving and committed citizens, employees and entrepreneurs. The basis for this event was a unanimous council resolution passed on March 13.
The dream of living in your own four walls continued to boom in Salzgitter in 2018. There was a huge demand for building plots. New building areas were and are therefore regularly developed. In September 2018, for example, the Salzgitter City Council decided to market the "Bad 100 Nordholz" development site in the first construction phase in Salzgitter-Bad for the construction of detached and semi-detached houses. In November 2018, the city parliament also approved the marketing of the "Fredenberg West" development area in the first section of the second construction phase.
