Salzgitter

Mayor Klingebiel is proud of Salzgitter's convincing application

The state government announced today that the state of Lower Saxony will apply to the federal government for a battery cell research facility at the Fraunhofer Institute in Salzgitter.

Lord Mayor Frank Klingebiel: "I am proud that our application, which we submitted to the state government together with Bosch Salzgitter, convinced the experts and the ministries involved. The aspects "central location with excellent transport connections, immediate availability of unused hall resources for the research facilities, important industrial companies and a diverse mix of medium-sized companies, the close links to the scientific organizations and research facilities, my efficient and experienced administration and our mission statement of a child and family-friendly learning city" were certainly decisive factors in the state government's positive decision. The topic of electromobility is right at the top of the city's structural change agenda."

So the first step has been taken. Now the experts and ministries in the federal government need to be convinced of Salzgitter as a location in competition with locations from other federal states.

The Federal Ministry of Education and Research will make the final decision in July 2019.

Klingebiel continues: "We will continue to do everything we can to convince them. Special thanks go to the Bosch plant management, Prof. Kwade from the TU Braunschweig and my employees for their good work."
