After the ferry crossing, the island of Neuwerk is reached and a unique experience awaits the children. There are still places available for all three municipal summer camps.
The Salzgitter camp on the island of Neuwerk offers space for 62 children. Even the journey to the camp is a source of anticipation, because after the bus ride to Cuxhaven, a ferry crosses over to Neuwerk. The adventure begins for the children on arrival on Germany's smallest inhabited island. They walk to the "Salzgitter Camp". Comfortable wooden huts and tents are available for overnight stays. There are games and sports facilities right next door. Those who prefer to stomp around in the mudflats can do so in a guided group. The meadows behind the dyke or the beautiful North Sea also offer relaxation when the tide is not out... Excursions to the lighthouse, soccer and beach ball, handicrafts or an island rally are also part of the vacation program. There is something for every taste.
The good North Sea air makes you hungry even without a lot of activities: in the evening, the groups enjoy grilling bread on a stick around the campfire in front of the wooden huts or baking pizza in the stone oven. Everyone pitches in and helps with the preparation and follow-up work. This quickly creates a great sense of community and new friendships among the seven to 14-year-olds. The children will definitely take one thing home with them: shared experiences make for an unforgettable time by the sea.
