The Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Lord Mayor Frank Klingebiel, took the opportunity to personally hand over the funding agreements to the sponsors of the projects at an event in the clubhouse of the rowing club on Salzgittersee in Lebenstedt. Around 100 volunteers and members of the board of trustees gathered at the rowing club's clubhouse.
In his welcoming address, the Lord Mayor praised the great work of the volunteers: "I am delighted that we are once again able to support a wide range of services provided by associations and charitable institutions that would otherwise not be possible. Since the foundation was established, more than 8 million euros have already flowed into around 350 projects."
The nine largest grants range from 50,000 euros for a roof renovation of the clubhouse of the Ringelheim shooting guild to 280,000 euros each for an artificial turf pitch for the SV Fortuna Lebenstedt and SV Arminia Vechelde soccer clubs.
More than half of the project sponsors received funding of up to 10,000 euros, ranging from around 1,000 euros for a training model for cardiopulmonary resuscitation exercises for the DLRG to 9,500 euros for IT equipment for the care association.
The circle of funding recipients reflects the wide range of organized voluntary work: cultural associations, DLRG, shooting clubs, the hospice initiative, allotment garden associations, the Salzgitter food bank, school and sports clubs have all come a big step closer to realizing their projects thanks to up to 80 percent funding from the foundation.
