He was very satisfied and emphasized: "We need a well-equipped professional fire department in Salzgitter. I am delighted that the newly renovated control center in Fire Station 1 is a step towards keeping the professional fire department fit for the future in terms of construction, personnel and technology."
In addition to fire officer Martin Kröhl, the head of the operations control department (which includes the control center), Brit Purmann from the City of Salzgitter's own facility management company was also responsible for the project. Both explained the refurbishment work to Lord Mayor Frank Klingebiel.
Over the past 20 years, the control centre has undergone a series of minor structural and technical modernizations. In 2018, a fundamental structural modernization became necessary and the necessary planning was carried out in close coordination between the professional fire department and the building management company. Work then began in February 2019.
The control center, which is manned 24 hours a day, was provisionally relocated to the staff room. Furniture, ceiling and floor panels were then removed, the air conditioning technology was replaced and an inventory of the power and network supply was carried out. The control center's hardware and software was also checked.
