The aim of this new flyer is to provide citizens with all the information they need about medical services outside of regular consultation and opening hours in a compact, handy format on just a few pages. It contains information on finding emergency pharmacies, telephone numbers for the medical, ophthalmologic, pediatric and dental on-call services as well as the emergency number for acute or life-threatening illnesses.

In general, the following applies: In the event of illnesses outside of regular medical consultation hours, for which patients would normally have visited the practice of a registered doctor, the central service number of the on-call health insurance service should be contacted on 116 117. The flyer also contains information on when to urgently contact the emergency number 112 or the fax emergency number for people with hearing and speech impairments (Tel.: 05341/837-28559)!

In addition to the contact details of the poison control center, the telephone counseling service and the social psychiatric service (health department of the city of Salzgitter), the flyer also contains a field in which the contact details and opening hours of the family doctor can be entered.

With the flyer, the health department and the professional fire department want to help prevent misuse of the emergency number 112 and thus keep the emergency number free for urgent emergencies. The information flyer will be updated should there be a reform of emergency services.
