In this letter, he explains that "the chosen form and content of the visit are not suitable for entering into a serious discussion with the alliance against Konrad, to which the city of Salzgitter also belongs, about the correct safety concept and thus restoring lost trust here on site."

On the contrary: with his bold statements in the "basta mentality", Schulze is preventing an open, honest and necessary discussion about the Konrad mine and contributing to a hardening of the fronts between the government and the population.

The Lord Mayor makes it clear: "We continue to demand a reassessment of the Konrad mine in accordance with the current state of science and technology and an abandonment of what we consider to be the wrong path of non-retrievability of the nuclear waste from the Konrad mine."

As is well known, the Federal Government's stance ignores the unanimous resolutions of the Salzgitter City Council, a resolution of the municipalities, towns and districts in the region and 70,000 signatures of citizens, mainly from Salzgitter, which were presented in Berlin in May 2015 by the Alliance against Konrad.
