Salzgitter

Salt crystal ceremonially inaugurated

On Saturday, June 15, 2019, the inauguration of the salt crystal at the Gittertor traffic circle in Salzgitter-Bad took place in the evening hours in the presence of many citizens. The crystal is a reminder of the town's history as a place of salt production.

Joachim Sievers, the 1st Chairman of the Salzgitter-Bad Citizens' Association, spoke of two salt crystals that exist. The one on the grid gate traffic circle and the crystal of enthusiasm and commitment in people's hearts. Lord Mayor Frank Klingebiel praised the commitment of those involved and said: "This is our Salzgitter: there is an idea and someone comes up with it and gets to work. That's why we live here and love our city!"

In addition to the citizens' association, architect Jens Walk, artist Lorenz Albrecht, the SMAG apprentices, the company "Mietens & Partner", the company "Asrodent" and the company "Koch" played a special role in the realization of the salt crystal.
