When she takes to the stage, one thing is immediately clear: this is a star with charm, an exceptional singer who every audience follows unconditionally after the first few bars. Her stylistic range: jazz and soul, interspersed with dabs of pop and folk. All linked by small, personal stories.
All in all: musical magic and pure authenticity. San Glaser is the daughter of Dutch-Indonesian parents. She inherited her musical talent from her father, a jazz musician. She studied music and jazz singing in Amsterdam and sang with bands and gala formations across Europe - a good school for her solo career. Along the way are formations such as Jazzkantine, Stefan Gwildis and Orange Blue.
In 2005, she recorded her first solo album and received euphoric reviews. The follow-up album "New Road" dominated the German iTunes jazz charts at number 1 for weeks in 2009. With "Beautiful Stranger" in 2014, she embarked on a musical exploration of the great themes of life: love, longing and loss - a matter close to her heart and a journey to her Indonesian roots. After three extraordinary and stylistically diverse albums, the fourth is characterized by groove and sensuality, lightness and optimism.
San Glaser and her band were invited to record the new album at the legendary Grand Hotel Heiligendamm on the Baltic Sea - inside historical elegance, outside the wild and free play of the waves. With bassist Arnd Geise, guitarist Johannes Wennrich and drummer Leo Lazar, San Glaser can rely on a well-rehearsed and experienced backing band whose musicians have already worked for greats such as Randy Brecker, Herb Geller and Annett Louisan. It will be interesting to see how the songs from "The Great Grand Hotel" sound live.
