Salzgitter

Security partnership signed

On Tuesday, July 16, 2019, the amended agreement on the security partnership between the city of Salzgitter and the Salzgitter/Peine/Wolfenbüttel police station was signed at the police station in Salzgitter-Lebenstedt.

The security partnership has been in place since 2002, as Volker Warnecke, head of the police department, said in his welcoming address: "I am pleased that the cooperation between the police and the city here in Salzgitter has been excellent for a long time." After 17 years, it was important to adapt this cooperation to the current challenges. In addition to combating the causes, the aim is above all to improve the subjective sense of security of the population and to optimize the conditions for integration.

Boris Pistorius, Lower Saxony's Minister of the Interior and Sport, also came to Salzgitter for the signing ceremony. In his welcoming address, he emphasized: "Local security can only succeed if it is viewed holistically and all stakeholders work closely together. I am delighted that this is working here in Salzgitter."

Councillor Eric Neiseke, the responsible department head for the city of Salzgitter, also praised the good cooperation that has developed and explained the intensified security partnership: "The city has increased the number of staff in the municipal security service. Together with the police, we want above all to show a presence and be a local point of contact in order to sustainably improve our citizens' sense of security. Alongside numerous forms of social work, the security factor is also a key element in ensuring that integration can succeed in the long term."
