At the handover ceremony, Mayor Frank Klingebiel emphasized that the new replacement building for St. Elisabeth Hospital in Salzgitter-Bad is not just one project among many, but is the "elixir of life for the citizens, patients, employees and the entire city". He continued: "With the support of the Minister, Dr. Carola Reimann, and Lord Mayor Ulrich Mädge, who represents the municipal interests in the hospital planning committee, and the members of the state parliament Stefan Klein and Marcus Bosse, we were able to convince the state government of the need for a new replacement building for St. Elisabeth Hospital. I never had any doubts about the need for a second hospital in our city!"
