VW informs: Battery cell production in Salzgitter

As part of its future orientation, Volkswagen is planning a battery cell production facility on the site of the engine plant in Salzgitter with its joint project partner Northvolt.

For this purpose, a formal approval procedure will be initiated in 2020 at the Braunschweig State Trade Supervisory Office in accordance with Section 10 of the Federal Immission Control Act.

The Volkswagen Group would like to inform the affected public about this project at an early stage on March 5 at 6:00 p.m. in the auditorium of the Salzgitter-Thiede secondary school, Panscheberg 56, 38239 Salzgitter.

The project will be presented by Andreas Salewsky (Plant Manager Volkswagen Group Components Salzgitter), Dirk Windmüller (Works Council Chairman Volkswagen Salzgitter), Thomas Hoffmann (Project Manager Battery Cell Business Unit, Volkswagen Group Components) and Fredrik Hedlund (Managing Director Northvolt Zwei). Afterwards, the representatives of Volkswagen and Northvolt will be available to answer questions from the public.
