Salzgitter

Introduction of the Ehrenamtskarte - city and volunteer center cooperate

At its meeting on Wednesday, April 22, 2020, the administrative committee of the city of Salzgitter decided to introduce the Ehrenamtskarte in the city area. The Salzgitter Volunteer Center (FZS) was commissioned with the implementation.

With this card, citizens receive attractive discounts in over 1200 stores, restaurants and facilities throughout Lower Saxony and Bremen. The Ehrenamtskarte was initiated by the State Chancellery of Lower Saxony in 2009 as a special recognition for volunteers and has been successfully implemented in cooperation with the local authorities ever since.

"I am happy and grateful that so many Salzgitter residents are committed to helping others and our city. They are the heart and backbone of our urban society. With their commitment, they make Salzgitter active, colorful and diverse. That deserves our recognition!" emphasizes Lord Mayor Frank Klingebiel.

The Freiwilligen-Zentrum-Salzgitter e.V. takes on the administrative tasks of processing applications, issuing the Ehrenamtskarte and recruiting cooperation partners on behalf of the city of Salzgitter. "Anyone who has been volunteering for at least three years and at least five hours a week can apply for the card," explains Patrick Kolzuniak, Managing Director of the FZS, explaining the application requirements.

And the network of partners is set to grow: in the coming weeks, numerous Salzgitter companies, associations and institutions will receive a call for participation by post or phone. Interested parties and companies who would like to support voluntary work with a discount are of course welcome to contact the FZS at any time.

From Monday, May 18, there will be a telephone "recognition consultation hour" three times a week. Anyone interested can then contact Patrick Kolzuniak directly and find out more about the Ehrenamtskarte in Salzgitter. For personal appointments, please make an appointment in advance by telephone or e-mail. The FZS can be reached at the following contact details:

The consultation hours of the FZS are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3 to 5 pm and Fridays from 3 to 7 pm.
