After this situation became known, a meeting was immediately held between the principal of the school, Mr. Hans-Günter Gerhold, a representative of the Lower Saxony state education authority, the head of the building department, Michael Tacke, and the head of the education and health department, Dr. Dirk Härdrich, at the request of the Lord Mayor, Frank Klingebiel. Together they searched for suitable alternative premises. In principle, municipal properties and premises belonging to associations, the church or companies were considered. "Both internally and externally, we met with great understanding and a remarkable willingness to help," emphasizes Dr. Dirk Härdrich, Head of Social Affairs. Lord Mayor Frank Klingebiel commented: "I am pleased that we were able to quickly find a solution that was acceptable to all sides. This example shows once again how closely our urban society sticks together when it matters."
The Volkshochschule is temporarily taking two language courses to new locations. This means that the rooms previously used for this purpose in Arche 4 in the Noah community can now be occupied by the grammar school. In addition, the anteroom of the auditorium at the Salzgitter-Bad grammar school has been set up for classes to bridge the gap.
This was made possible by the excellent cooperation of all local partners involved. Special thanks go to the following church congregations and organizations for their support: Noah congregation, Baptist congregation, Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe e. V. Ortsverband Salzgitter and the BNW (Bildungswerk der Niedersächsischen Wirtschaft gGmbH).
