After 2014, 2016 and 2018, the fourth youth parliament in Salzgitter is now starting its work. It consists of 21 Salzgitter residents between the ages of 13 and 20. This includes young people who were already represented in the youth parliament during the 2nd and 3rd electoral periods. As there were a total of 28 places available, the election was canceled and this year's candidates automatically become members of the Youth Parliament in accordance with the election regulations.
The date of the constituent meeting has been postponed from the end of May to September 8 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. At the constituent meeting of the Youth Parliament, after a welcome address by the First Mayor, Stefan Klein, and a greeting from City Councillor Dr. Dirk Härdrich, the old members of the previous 3rd electoral term are bid farewell, the new members are sworn in and the new Youth Parliament begins its work. Due to the applicable distancing and hygiene rules, the meeting will take place in the Kulturscheune.
