The social workers at the Graffiti children's and youth center (KJT) help children who go to the Am Ostertal elementary school, who are not technically well-equipped at home, who find it difficult to properly apply the material taught in online lessons or who simply don't have enough space at home to concentrate on their work.

The social education specialists at the KJT have been working closely with the school social workers at Am Ostertal elementary school in Lebenstedt for years.

The idea of helping pupils at the elementary school with "home schooling" was born as part of this network. At the KJT Forellenhof in Lebenstedt, the staff support the children with their school work on a daily basis and help to ensure that they do not lose touch and that those whose parents have foreign roots can continue to improve their language skills.

In order to align the support as closely as possible with the subject matter and to meet the individual support needs of each pupil, the social education workers regularly exchange information with the social education specialists at Am Ostertal elementary school.

However, "home schooling" at Forellenhof is not just about learning and knowledge. The staff offer the children opportunities to relax and unwind after their mentally concentrated work. And, incidentally, the primary school children meet people of their own age (in compliance with hygiene regulations) with whom they can play and interact.

It is not only the primary school children at Schule am Ostertal who benefit from the support of the specialists; for example, a pupil from a secondary school was also provided with a room at Forellenhof where he could study in peace and quiet and receive help from the KJT staff for his final oral exam.

Support with "home schooling" at KJT Thiede

The staff at the children's and youth center in Thiede are also implementing this idea and helping pupils at the elementary school in Thiede.
