KJT Graffiti is open again

The Graffiti children's and youth club (KJT) is open again. After around one and a half years of refurbishment, operations in Swindonstraße have resumed - with corona-related restrictions. The official opening is planned for next year.

The children, young people, the two full-time staff and the volunteers are delighted with the result. The flooring has been renewed, as have the interior rooms, which have also been converted to make them barrier-free. A new room layout and the expansion of the upper floor offer plenty of space for the activities and services that can only be offered to a limited extent at the moment due to the pandemic. Nevertheless, the children and young people aged between 6 and 27 are delighted that "their" meeting place is open again.

Some children from Ostertal elementary school are eating lunch there again and doing their homework. Others enjoy the games and socializing. In good weather, the meadow and the adjacent city park invite children to enjoy popular outdoor activities.

The façade and exterior work is not yet complete and better weather is needed. Volunteer graffiti artists from the region have been recruited to ensure that the façade does not remain as white as it is now and that the graffiti can once again live up to its name. As soon as the weather and the exterior work allow, they will apply their artwork to the walls and bring some color back to the building at the Stadtpark. Then the inauguration party of the KJT planned for spring can also start.
