Konradfonds distributes funds for the 2020 funding year

During the summer vacations, the Board of Trustees of the Endlager Konrad Stiftungsgesellschaft mbH met under the chairmanship of Lord Mayor Frank Klingebiel and decided on the 2020 funding.

There were 99 applications to be discussed, with a total application volume of 4.3 million euros.

72 applicants can already look forward to positive news: the distribution of around 1.7 million euros was approved with binding effect. There is still a need for clarification on some of the applications, which was postponed to the next meeting at the end of October. The group of sponsored project sponsors is once again broad and ranges from choral societies, shooting clubs, allotment garden associations, school clubs, voluntary fire departments, the hospice initiative, the German Red Cross and a wide variety of sports clubs.

35 projects, almost half of all projects, receive funding of less than 10,000 euros. They range from 600 euros for a lawnmower to 9,600 euros for the renovation of the facade of the clubhouse of the Salzgitter Kniestedt allotment garden association.

The eight largest grants also range from 74,000 euros for a hard pitch renovation at FC Viktoria Thiede to 240,000 euros for the renovation of the entire sports grounds of TSV Üfingen.

The Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Lord Mayor Klingebiel, commented: "I am delighted that we have been able to support the voluntary work of many clubs and other charitable institutions and facilities in a very special way through our project funding for the eighth time. The foundation has already invested almost 10 million euros in charitable projects since 2013. I am proud that we have been able to use this considerable amount of funding to realize projects that would otherwise not have been possible to finance. I would particularly like to thank the many volunteers who are constantly developing, tackling, driving forward and implementing new ideas for the community.

It is a pity that, due to the coronavirus, the funding agreements cannot be handed over to the project sponsors at a joint event on Salzgittersee as in previous years. However, I would like to use this restriction as an opportunity to visit as many project sponsors as possible individually, be it for the handover of the agreement, for a tour of the project implementation or for the opening after completion."
