Musical awakening

The sounds of piano, violin and guitar in the Alte Feuerwache and Kniestedter Gutshaus: the music school reopened on May 11 to resume classes in compliance with social distancing and hygiene rules.

Online lessons were previously well received and will continue to take place and be expanded. Trial lessons and taster courses are available again by appointment.

The music school team has reorganized the lessons for the return of its students. The timetables have been relaxed, as airing the rooms and regular cleaning are now part of everyday life. Room allocations have been redistributed so that wind players and singers can be taught in sufficiently large rooms. All piano teachers also have two instruments at their disposal.

In addition to the distancing and hygiene rules, pupils are met by teachers at the front door. Wearing protective masks is just as much a matter of course as the mobile Plexiglas walls in the classrooms. In this way, the distance is maintained and there is protection without impairing contact.

Around half of the 500 pupils returned to the Alte Feuerwache or the Kniestedter Gutshaus. Others will follow in the near future. Some would like to continue lessons via video chat, email, video tutorial, telephone or a combination of several of these components for a while longer. To this end, the WLAN has been upgraded for the time being.

Also very pleasing: a solution has been found for the cooperation with the elementary school: The guitar groups in Ringelheim have been divided into several small groups and can make music together again. The children from the Altstadtschule now attend the branch at Marienplatz 12A in the Kniestedter Gutshaus and enjoy their recorder, guitar and violin lessons. The recorder pupils from the Grundschule am Fredenberg are currently learning about online lessons under supervision, and the violin pupils are coming directly to the music school in the Alte Feuerwache in Lebenstedt.

As the doors of the music school are not yet open to the public, personal advice over the phone is all the more important. It is possible to get to know the rooms, have a trial lesson or a taster course by making an appointment during the usual opening hours via the music school office (05341/839-3435).
