Salzgitter

Meeting place

Under the motto "Start.Punkt.Salzgitter", there has been a contact point for people around Berliner Straße in Lebenstedt for four years. The city of Salzgitter has concluded a cooperation agreement with TAG, Diakonie, Caritas, Arbeiterwohlfahrt and the German Red Cross (DRK) for this project.

The staff at the meeting place work hand in hand.

Many volunteers and full-time employees work hand in hand on a temporary basis in the new meeting place in the Martin Luther quarter, where the focus is on support, care and advice for refugees and locals. Many services and projects have already been implemented, such as weekly German language training for women, tutoring for children and social counseling.

Christa Frenzel, First City Councillor of the city of Salzgitter, was very committed to the establishment of this district meeting point: "This facility is an enrichment in and for Salzgitter," she said at the opening. She thanked all the cooperation partners for their commitment and for the good collaboration. Together we are creating a meeting place for and with people.

This new contact point is open to all citizens who are looking for community or need advice and help. This applies to newcomers, but also to the long-established residents who live around Berliner Strasse. Everyone should be able to talk to each other and take advantage of the various offers.

The state working group "Social Hotspots" is initially funding this project for five years. The sponsors will make their own contribution.
