The annual scholarship is awarded to music students who demonstrate diligence and talent in their subject. Teachers can make suggestions, which are followed by an audition in front of a jury at the music school. This year, the jury chose Roxana Malyska (sponsored by the Zonta Club) and Johanna Schlichting (sponsored by the music school's support association). Both girls from Salzgitter are students of Melanie Germain and are delighted to receive additional support for their singing lessons. Johanna, 17, has been taking lessons at the Salzgitter music school since 2018; Roxana, also 17, has been taking lessons in Salzgitter since 2019.
The presentation of the certificates could not take place during a concert in the Fürstensaal as is usually the case. Instead, the two scholarship holders received their awards in the run-up to the class recital. "It is important to us that we support young music talents in Salzgitter even in difficult times," says Detlef Gedaschke, 1st Chairman of the Salzgitter Music School Sponsors' Association. The sponsorship recognizes the talent of the two music students and thus sets an example for music. "I have been Chairman of the Board for 14 years and every year I look forward to supporting new scholarship holders as an integral part of our support and cooperation with the Salzgitter Music School."
For Regina Nikolei, President of the Zonta Club Salzgitter, awarding the scholarships is important in order to promote individual talent and special commitment. Sabine Petter, Director of the Salzgitter Music School, expressed her thanks for this support, which enriches and encourages.
And perhaps the two music students will be able to present their talents in a concert in the foreseeable future and, thanks to the scholarship, will have even more opportunities to practice diligently until then...
Scholarship information:
The Friends of the Music School (www.musik-salzgitter.de) was founded in 1982 and will be 40 years old next year. The scholarship as a sponsorship is a sponsorship with the city of Salzgitter because it has been contributing to the costs of teaching children and young people on a pro rata basis since 1994.
The Zonta Club Salzgitter has been involved in the sponsorship since 2004 and awards an annual scholarship to a music student; this is financed by the Friends of Zonta International e.V. association.
A four-member jury decides on the awarding of the annual scholarships. The jury consists of representatives of the music school and the Friends of the Music School.
