Technical equipment was brought into the building with handcarts, as is usually only seen at festivals, and cars so that the gaming could begin.
During the peak of the pandemic, a digital group of gamers had formed on the children's and youth clubs' Discord server and wanted to meet up in person offline. When the first easing of restrictions was officially announced, the young people seized the opportunity and organized the LAN party together.
The tables were put together, the computers and notebooks were set up and everything was networked and connected to the internet.
Completely new meeting visitors were shown the meeting place and also the dormitory, in case they needed it. But anyone who has ever attended a LAN party knows that no one really sleeps - and that's exactly what happened:
A wide variety of games were tried out together. If a game didn't work on your own PC or you had arrived without your own equipment, you were invited by the other participants to try it out on the devices on site.
There was also the opportunity to try out virtual reality on two VR headsets, for example when defusing a bomb virtually, hunting ghosts or playing a music rhythm game.
According to the participants, the first joint LAN party was a complete success and if it had been up to them, they would have gambled all the way through. According to the organizers, a repeat event has already been requested and is definitely being planned.
