As more than 25 companies have been successfully supported in recent years, the Salzgitter City Council has decided to continue this support program on the recommendation of the WIS Supervisory Board and at the suggestion of Lord Mayor Frank Klingebiel. "Small companies as well as start-ups and company successions play an important role in creating jobs and are a mainstay of economic dynamism and social stability in Salzgitter. Especially in these difficult corona times, this funding program is an important building block to support new business ideas and investments in the local economy, which is still weakened by the pandemic conditions," says Lord Mayor Frank Klingebiel and adds: "From July 1, 2021, companies that meet the funding requirements can submit applications for the investment grant to our municipal business development company WIS."

Funding is provided in the form of a project-related, non-repayable grant as part of the overall financing. Funding is available for investments of 10,000 euros or more in tangible fixed assets. Small companies with up to 10 employees and start-ups that create jobs or training positions or secure existing employment with the help of the investment are eligible to apply for this funding. Applicants can finance up to 20 percent of eligible investments through this grant. The maximum funding amount is 50,000 euros. This funding program is intended to support small businesses, start-ups and company successors in their willingness to invest in order to secure their growth and employment. Wirtschafts- und Innovationsförderung Salzgitter GmbH (WIS) implements the funding program on behalf of the city of Salzgitter and is available to companies and start-ups for all questions relating to investment funding. "Thanks to the renewed decision by the Salzgitter City Council to continue this important funding program, we can provide additional municipal funding of €500,000 for the next 18 months. We want to and will use this in the interests of the local economy and promote investment," concludes Frank Klingebiel.
